Something about where we are

Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

Founded in 1847 as Great Salt Lake City by a group of Mormon pioneers, Salt Lake City is the capital and the most populous city of the U.S. state of Utah.

The Salt Lake City metropolitan area has a population of 2,150,000 as of 2007. The metropolitan area spans Salt Lake, Summit and Tooele counties an encompasses the large urban area known as the Wasatch Front.

Utah

Utah is a western state of the United States. It was the 45th state admitted to the Union on January 4, 1896. Approximately 80 percent of Utah's 2,736,424 people live along the Wasatch Front, centering around Salt Lake City. In contrast, vast expanses of the state are nearly uninhabited. The name "Utah" is derived from the Ute Native American language, meaning "people of the mountains".

Theosophy is not a religion as it has no creed or dogma. Within the Theosophical Society, ideas are presented as ideas for consideration and everything is negotiable. Members are only required to agree with the three Objects of the Society, outlined below.

The Three Objects of the Society

1. To form a nucleus of the universal brotherhood of humanity, without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste, or color.

2. To encourage the comparative study of religion, philosophy, and science.

3. To investigate unexplained laws of nature and the powers latent in humanity.
